You are correct, horsepower is horsepower. But you can't argue the fact that in the world of naturally aspirated engines it is harder to make decent power without displacement. That is my only point really.
I've been following "professional" drag racing for over 10 years now. I've seen a lot of "first this" "first that." None of it really impresses me anymore. Anyone with a deep enough wallet can accomplish pretty much anything they set out to do. That is my point. Maybe I'm jaded.
