that car was blowing out black smoke because it was never tuned, they just got around to tuning it. its just that the guys have to work on other customers cars, before they work on their own thats all. now that the hatch has some new parts and its getting tuned it should stop all that smoke that ur talking about. hmmm...its funny my car doesn't blow out a smokescreen of black smoke even though i'm running a half ass untuned basemap with my car. If they knew anything about tuning that car wouldn't be blowing out that much smoke even without it being tuned.
