Default Re: 2005 track days with either TPM, Cornerspeed, or SBTT?

i'd rather have a new street tire than a take off that i have no idea how old it is and how many heat cycles it has been through... i've done plenty of track days on a 166 rear wheel hp gsxr 1000 on street tires and haven't had any problem at all, but again i'm talking newer good street tires, M1's, powers, corsas, bt012ss, or 208's, but if that thing can stick to the track with street rubber under it then anything can, and i'm not even the best of riders... but i know for fact tech inspection wouldn't say a word about you being on the track on street tires

and if they are a new track rider that goes double, if someone can't use a street tire to its full potential then why go with a race tire? its just a track day so they should be riding their own pace anyways, if they are pushing the front and spinning the rear then back it off a notch, no contingency money or race points at stake

i'm not saying to not run race tires if you want, but just saying in my opinion and from my experience there is nothing wrong with a good street tire... but as for running take offs in the winter on the street, thats just scary
