I used to say this and I kinda still do but sometimes. You have to stop and think. Do you really want to turn wrenches your whole life? Its laborous and the money can be erratic. Also have you ever heard of the term "Flat-rate"? As in some days you turn 12 hrs some days you can turn just 1. Ur post said you work at Nissan. So Im sure you understand this. When I first started working there the techs would tell me to drop this shit and go to school. I would tell them that this is what i wanted to do. After working for a while and seeing the true side of dealership drama, I started taking some classes at NOVA to have "options" for my future. All I'm trying to say is being a tech isnt just a gimme and it isnt as great as most ppl think it is.
