Well, yeah, I guess you're right.. Now that I think about it there's a stock turbo 1.8T GTI gutted with slicks that ran either a 12.5 or a 12.6. Hell of a driver, but he basically took a GTI off of the lot and gutted it, ran an open stock downpipe from what I understand, ran slightly higher boost via cheapo manual boost controller, threw on some slicks, and runs consistent mid 12's. I'm not aware of any drivetrain upgrades, so I guess it can be done, it just seems like a big risk to me.
I'm going to try to start going to the track more often now that I've got the LSD and 3.94.. I'm going to try to find some smaller wheels that will fit over my brakes and get some sticky drag radials for them. I just need to eliminate wheel hop; Ordering new dog bone mounts ASAP to get rid of that! My car likes to spin through 2nd gear from a roll now and sometimes I lose traction temporarily going into third gear. It's not ungodly fast by any means; Still stock turbo... but minor tuning and software made a HELL of a difference.
