They're a good idea but really I'd rather have the performance all the time and just spend the money on a free flowing exhaust that is actually fairly quiet.
A quiet free-flowing exhaust... that's an oxymoron
The good thing about the electric valve is that you have open headers/etc at the flick of a switch.
