Wire this bad boy inline before your breaker box. Dominion Power will charge you a bajillion dollars for it, but you can get the surge arrestors (note, they are not circuit breakers which lightning will arc) direct from wholesalers (unlike friggin' heat pumps which require HVAC license to purchase, but that's another issue).

You're gonna need probably the 6 kA or at least two 4 kA in series. Can be installed in about 15 minutes but requires Dominion to cut power unless you have a building-wide breaker box (found outside the building, like what you'd see for an outdoor heat pump condensor box, just much bigger). PM me if you want more info.

EDIT: Kevin, I can get you a breaker box installed module that can be wired inline for hella cheap. Requires no building electrical downtime. Let me know if Mark wants me to get them for ya'll.
