OH, if you enjoy a challenging drive I highly recomend it. Just remember that this road has taken over 200 lives. Respect the road and you'll probably come out alive, get cocky and there's a lot of really big dropoffs and oddly places trees that'll get you... not to mention the 18 wheelers that constantly drive it... check out the crash photos on the link I gave you. It's a fun road. Check it out if you get the chance.

I believe you. But then you're also dealing with someone who really doesn't know how to drive the OTHER car. I just think you're taking the situation to extremes. Another thing to remember is that most people (I don't even know if I can say that... there are so many idiots on the roads today) know how to handle a average car... we know the limits, we know you can also usually put the pedal to the metal and no harm is done (not enough power to hurt yourself with)... whereas in a 500bhp Porsche or a Ferrari or something, the same action of giving it full throttle may throw the car into a spin. Their power can sometimes excede the handeling capabilities of the car... See my point? Sports cars are "harder" to drive that normal cars. It takes more control, more restraint, and more focus to keep them on a track, and you need to know "tricks" like how to "feather" the clutch, or even what gear to be in coming out of a turn.
I'd probably have to say that if you took your average person and told them to make a lap in each car as FAST as they possibly could... you might end up with a faster lap on a dificult enough track in a normal car simply because they'd probably spin out the sports car 10 times before they crossed the finish line.

That can't be true... or there'd be no mechanics in BMW shops

Are you talking about those stupid looking buggies with the spoilers as big as the rest of the vehicle? I tried watching that on TV. I can see where it could be quite challenging, but at the same time... it's so mundane. I'd rather watch them do that through the woods than in a circle. Or at LEAST on a figure 8. Make the bastards turn right for once... that'll throw 'em off. And those aren't really cars... it's more like karting than anything as far as I can tell. (sorry, I don't know enough about this form of racing to comment further)
