I don't think they're necessarily taking advantage of us.. The price of a barrel of oil is over $70 now if I recall correctly.. That directly impacts how much gasoline costs. The hurricane disrupted everything in the gulf, and we were relying heavily on those refineries for our oil and inevitably our gasoline. They could probably sell gas a little cheaper and still make money, but I don't think they're just upping the price to make some extra cash.
But yeah, it hurts to pay that much for gas. Before I started driving I remember gas was less than a buck for regular and MAYBE like $1.03 for premium at the time. I can only imagine how nice that must have been..
