sports cars are ones whos very core is that of driving fun. there's more to sportiness than speed.

for example: a base miata is still meant to be a driver's car. a base civic is meant to be a car to drive. get the difference?

just because a civic is fast, doesn't make it a sports car. it just makes it a fast civic.
