Stock DSMs are reliable. I had a 1g Talon for a year and it didnt break down once, it was stock. Just make sure the maintenance has been done on it, thats one of the big things that keeps DSMs off the road.

Just like any boosted car, when you start modding them, they tend to break down more often.
