thanks for the help. however, i should have done a better job explaining when this problem occurs. it only happends when my programmer is turned completely up (level 4). the truck has only 13 k miles on it and it has not recieved a replacement fuel filter. in regards to the ether or a "newer diesel running poorly", this drivablilty concern does not occur in stock trim so i would have a difficult time getting the dealership to verify the concern or do anythign about it for that matter. and believe me i would never put any form of starting fluid in my truck. heads are expensive. i think i may purchase a replace regulator and modify it and then install it.
