well that car doesnt have a thermal time switch only the earlier v6 models. This is all electronic injection. I would say most of the time on cold starts it it the coolant sensor. Also it could be a bad distributer cap especially if it is anything other than a bosch, volvo's hate cheap caps and run terrible. Now it also could be about a dozen other things aswell hard to say with out looking. If you ever need a mechanic we work on alot of volvo from all over hampton roads.
