Depends on what shop you take it to some shops don't care as long as the tires don't rub and the car doesn't sit an inch to the ground. Some shops get real big on lowered cars and check to make sure the tires don't rub tie rods and the suspension of the car. When I worked at Honda they wouldn't pass a civic that was lowering with eibach 1.2" drops riding on 17's because they claimed it would rub during hard suspension travel and could cause danger. Which I think is bullshit and they just don't want to be liable for the car if they pass it for inspection. If you know someone who works at a shop or know of a shop that passes "altered" cars then I would take it there. My car rolled on 17's with coilovers I was lowered all the way until the fender lip meet the height of the tire = no wheel gap. I took my car to my dads dealership that he works at and they always passed my car. The thing that sucks were I live is dickhead state troopers will give you a ticket in a heart beat when they see altered suspension. I got one ticket and the dickhead pushed down on my driverside fender and said the fender hit the tire which I know was a bullshit lie and I got out of it in court saying I can raise the car back up and I didn't know blah blah blah. The laws state that you can not alter the suspension anyway other then what OEM attended it to be. Hope this helps I say drop it cause no wheel gap looks good and get coilovers so you can raise the car back up during inspection time. Hope this helps in anyway. Also when if you get pulled over and the cop ask were you get your inspection play dumb because then the cop will get the inspection station in trouble.
