a longer gear is better for a higher hp motor the same thing that helps you in a low hp motor hurts you in a high hp motor.... a high boost set up turbo motor will pull harder with a LS tranny a low hp b16 works awsome with a y1 tranny.... its more about the motor but honda used the short gears to keep the car in its peek power band......LS has a low power band and good tq pull wich is the reason for the long gears.... might wana look into this a little more before you start going on about it
