A wideband doesn't have much to do with timing except that you should be setting fuel first. You can beat your head into a wall setting timing and the engine will still run like shit if you haven't addressed the fuel maps. Start with something conservative for timing, then focus on fuel. Then go back and tweak the timing more. If you're this new to tuning, I would only tune it to the point where you can take it to someone more experienced, and look over their shoulder. Tuning from scratch for your first tuning project is ambitious at best, catastrophic at worst.
