How much is the Lotus worth? How old was your Evo?

The way it works is this - the state will cover 70% of the $20,000 assment of the vehicle. After that, you are responsible for the rest of the taxes. So, since your Lotus is worth more than your Evo and it's newer, the taxes are going to be greater.

Basically, it's like this. I drive a 2001 Civic. It's worth less than $20,000 to begin with, so the state will cover the first 70% of the taxes on the assesment. So, to make it easy, we'll say the assesment is $1000. So, the state will cover $700 and I will have to pay the difference, $300.
