It's a total crapshoot for a charge like that I had a couple driving on suspended tickets while I was down there, the first one netted me a few days in jail and a $5000 bond with NO priors only because I hadn't been back up to my home state to renew my license (military at the time) and the cop was a total douche bag, Tessier in Norfolk she now is an undercover with VB Narc... the second time I got 30 days suspended and no fines, just court costs (PR bond) so it's all about how the judge feels that particular day, if you can un-suspend it prior to court it will help immensely or it could end up not mattering one iota, but better to be safe than sorry, larry is pretty good but I would go with Pete Decker's office those guys are in pretty good with the good ol' boys in city hall... One of the reasons I left the area was because of that kinda crap, driving on a suspended license should not be a felony. A felony is by definition a grave and serious crime, there is nothing grave about driving on a suspended license, now what happens as a result of driving should be considered felonius (sp?) but driving with out the proper papers is hardly a grave and serious crime, IMO... Which up here doesn't get you much more than a $150 fine... Most guys I knew when I was down there that were suspended were suspended for something unrelated or for not paying a fine. Take child support for example, so you were late on child support so lets take your license so you can't get to work and subsequently can't pay your child support now thats a way to curb the suspended driving! Not to mention that it will incur more fines that you couldn't afford in the first place and hence why you were driving on a suspended license... Sorry but you guys's system down in VA is fucked plain and simple, laws shouldn't be in place to continually beat someone down and prevent them from correcting a deficiency and thats just how your system is, like it or not...
