Supras are now pulling the front tires off the ground.

Torque does mean a lot, its gets the car moving. But saying you have torque down low doesn't mean anything as long as the other car knows how to use his torque even if its at 5000 RPM. From a roll brake boosting it key, and from a stop 2-step/Anti-lag is the shit.
Actually unless your info is very recent, I believe it is a twin-turbo viper that holds the 6-speed record and last I heard they were swapping in an auto to go after the record irs car which is a Supra. Why would an irs 6spd supra be harder to drag race than an irs 6spd cobra?

And who cares about yankin the tires. Most irs Cobras running 9's don't pull the tires. If you're on slicks and your rear can take it, fuck a two-step, set it on the box and let it rip or just rev it to where you want to leave. And a two-step doesn't build boost, a trans-brake does. I keep hearing anti-lag as if its some magic technique or some kind of gismo. If you are referring to race car guys saying that it usually has to do with better turbo design and better flowing engines is the reason big race cars hit full boost very quickly.
