They never spontaneously blew up. There weren't any more failures on Firestones than any other tire at the time. There was just more heat on Firestone because when tires blew on Explorers people died. And more Explorers had Firestones. Plenty of flipped Explorers had Goodyears.

Bridgestone is a stronger company because after the bullshit Ford threw at them to save their own asses they restructured and fixed just about everything they could find even slightly wrong with their company. What did Ford do? Oh yeah, they started losing money and falling apart from the inside out. I don't know why your friends don't trust Firestone tires. Maybe they're just being unreasonable.

By the way, what kind of tires did all the Bonco IIs that killed people have on them? Were they amazing exploding tires that only exploded on Fords, too?
