I believe the official term is PIT maneuver. Stands for Pursuit Intervention Technique. But, I have heard it called many things as well. I do know that the outcome is usually not good. My GF had that done to her by an escort on 581. She went accross 3 lanes and into the wall, not too good!

I'm sure you've seen the video of the 15 year old kid driving the stolen Mustang, right? Pretty amazing! They performed like 3-4 clean pit maneuvers on the kid and he somehow kept his composure and kept it on the road. I forget how it ended, but it seemed like he was going to keep going and going.
