Tuning your own car isn't for everyone. It takes a lot of researching and a good bit of experience to really understand and properly tune a car on anything more complicated than an afc. Sure you can slap in a basemap, get the afr's somewhat optimal at WOT, but its not necessarily gonna be a smooth running car and that base timing map your using isn't necessarily going to be safe or anywhere near optimal. Not to mention researching and learning the software along with tuning a car for the first time can take a good bit of time and many people are too busy to do all of that. Also tuning the program crome that he uses requires that you buy a number of things for tuning.

1. you need a chip burner for sure
2. you will need a datalogging cable(it can be done without this, but it isn't easy or efficient to get a good tune this way.
3. you will need to purchase crome pro($150) just to datalog through crome...you can datalog with other free programs, but its so much easier just to log through one program.
4. you will need a real time programmer if you want to be able to update maps without having to burn a chip everytime. Trust me i've tuned without this before and it really does suck.

If you have the time, money, and patience to tune your own car then thats good, but many people dont have that.
