i would say its best to go with the tire's recommendations as that varies much more than the make of bike does, but alot of the times it seems to me the number on the sidewall is kind of high. I guess they err in the high side, because the same tire could be on a 360 lbs 600 with a 125 lbs rider or a 500 lbs busa with a 250 lbs rider, so they don't know what its going to be supporting.

I would say the average is low 30's for most tires, but some things, like my mich power races have wierd pressures, 32F/24R.

Some of the tire company's websites have lists that have recommended pressures according to your bike, if that fails then just call them up, they should be able to tell you or can direct you to someone there who can.
