Burke Lake is over pressured, to many people jog the trails which turns fish towards the deeper holes. And when fishing is good, theres always lots of people beating the banks which makes them more weary as well. There is also an abundance of shad/perch for the big ones to feast on in the deeper, unfishable by land waters!!
The big ones are there all year long they dont dissapear. They just move deeper as the temps rise, feeding slows but is still happening you just have to be patient. They will then start to come to the shallows closer to fall for one last big feeding before the winter, when the go deep again and feeding becomes practicly null.
