Re: New Driving Penalties effective: july 1st
Simple reason for all of this...
As it states it is to raise revenue. They don't want to raise taxes because they will get voted out. So they make these outrageous fines that 75% of the population will get hit with and make their money.
VA may be better than some places but I would hardly call it "car friendly." I don't have an annoying and useless exhaust system, I don't have unsightly body mods and I don't have dangerously bright lights.
I agree with fines for dangerous/poorly done mods and REAL reckless driving but speed does not mean reckless. Speed is a factor in a lot of accidents but it is merely a factor. Accidents INVOLVING speed are often resulting from people going fast then recklessly changing lanes, passing or failing to be ready to slow down for traffic. This is because we hand out licenses like candy and don't have proper defensive driving courses. I think there should be a bi-annual defensive driving course that everyone must complete in order to maintain the privilege of driving. If this were the case we could raise speed limits and would not have to expand the roads. Which would allow us to keep a reasonable budget, maintain our current roads and put more police to keeping down crime and less wasted time enforcing useless traffic laws.
I am probably going to take some flack for my statements but I don't care.
