Just to make you jealous:
My (Our) whole chassis happens to be made of carbon. Well, except for the roll hoop. It's all (donated) aerospace prepreg carbon too, not a drop of wet resin was used on the car.. Vacuum bagging and oven cure for everything. Carbon differential case too, visible right under the brake light. You can play catch with the chassis tub, it's 45 pounds bare. And yes, those are magnesium BBS wheels, the only set that size in the country..

I wonder if I talked with you at competition as I spent some good time talking with your team...?...
I too hate shitty cf parts...picked up a shitty "Carbon-fiber-glass" hood for cheap as I could find a factory steel or alum hood...I sanded off the gel coat and clear and shaved 4.3 lbs...that was just in BS coat alone!!!
still looking forward to having time to make my own hood, trunk, roof and doors...fenders are on the back burner...
weight savings is a beautiful thing...all will be painted for the same reasons fabrik8 gave.
