NEWPORT NEWS

Police have identified a man killed in a crash Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a Cadillac at Jefferson Avenue and Randolph Road. Eben L. Hoggard, 27, of Stonewall Terrace in Hampton, was headed south on Jefferson and was in the center lane when a Cadillac headed north on Jefferson made a left at Randolph, said Lou Thurston, police spokesman. The motorcycle hit the Cadillac sedan on the passenger side. Hoggard was pronounced dead later at a hospital, Thurston said. No one in the Cadillac was injured.
The driver of the Cadillac, Tremaine Knight, has been charged with a second offense of driving with a revoked driver's license and not having insurance, according to a police news release.

Investigators believe that Hoggard's speed played a role in the crash along with inattention on Knight's part, according to the release.

The crash shut down two of three southbound lanes of Jefferson Avenue for more than an hour during the Monday morning commute.
