Default Re: RX8 or SR20DET 240SX?

thgdfathr:

I think you're wasting your time by coming here and asking "what car should i buy?" when YOU have not stated what kind of car YOU want. You know what i'm talking about. Like, what are you gonna be using this car for? Are you gonna track it? If so, what kind of racing? What's ur plans, what do u like. the 240 and Rx8 are VERY different, therefore you will get a lot of ppl talking mad shit.

Here's my 2 cent

Rx8

First of all, a road car. It loves to be driven, IT's Corroborates that the less is more theory. It doesnt need 1K HP to go fast. It's got a rev Happy engine, 6 spd tranny, very practical, and a VERY sports oriented Chassis, meaning flex it SO minimized on this car, its incredible. There's no reason for a real driver (the ones who actually "drive" around turns hugging corners, in and out... basically no drag racing or point and shoot type of stuff) to drive that car and not love it.

It does have a lot of gripes that YOU as the owner MUST learn; because since its a rotary, you must give it some EXTRA care. Gets SHT for gas mileage (this is coming form a guy who drives a 33mpg car and sometimes complains, lol)

240 with whatever SWAP

NEEDS to be modified, it asks for it. Its cheap, pretty decent after market support. Probably lighter, i assume this because the Rx8 is a relatively heavy car. Again, this comes from a guy who drives a 2300 lbs car. Its said to handle WELL, but like i said, IT NEEDS!!! to be modified, like, the entire suspension. And then it may handle like a RX8. if you want a point shoot car, then this is IT!!! Its cheap, they're everywhere, and johnny and his buddys already did all the swaps there are to be done. . . . . . . . . What i meant was, you can easily re-search whatever and get to work! This has the potential to go fast, i mean, just put the biggest turbo you can find on the stock SR20 engine and you'll fly... (i was not being litteral, so STFU!)

You want my opinion on both cars???

I dont care, but here it is. . . .

RX8
Too heavy/big for me.... Wheels are to big, and the smaller you could get is 16", that means if you want to get into the 12lbs rims you're fkd!. . . . Just too much of unnecessary stuff. AND its a rotary, i dont know nothing about them and dont want to....

240
is just a 240, a piece of junk. Everyone has one, and they're JUST "JDM" and full of steaming SHIT! I've only seen ONE at an Autocross event (BTW, whoever that was, I bet they're saving up for something else) sigh!... Its unconformable as F.. the roof is way LOW. . . Handles like SHIT, and its slow with the KA. I would just never consider one. Unless i'm looking for a cheap transportation and dont care.

NOW the S2000...... Its quite quicker than the Rx8 and handles similar. ..... If you're looking for a drivers car, you should narrow it down to them 2. Decide whether u want more performance and less comfort or the opposite. . . .

Even though i'm 100% sure that it would take minimum mods for an RX8 to match the s2k performance (on a track, or autoX course)

I wouldnt buy an S2000 either, that's why they made Miatas (~650 lbs lighter)
