First, you can legally tint stock tails, provided that light still adequately passes through them for running lights, and brake lights.

Second, any 50 State legal replacement lamp, that is already tinted in said manner, and sold as such, approved for use on highway vehicles, etc., is legal to use.


To the Thread Starter: You should check to see what DEPO street legal tails are available for the car, and find the look you like. Most likely, they have a blacked out, or dark lamp, that is DOT approved 50-state legal, and will provide the look and function you desire.
