For a ticket of 105 in a 55, if you tried to say "Your speedometer was off" - the judge would laugh at you and prob give you a harder sentence. He knows that YOU know you were doing well over 55. That 'faulty equipment' thing only works if you get pulled over for a couple of mph (5-12mph)
