So you haven't tried to disconnect power to the gauges, and you're still wondering why you're having problems...? I'm sure your alternator and battery are fine, you just have a wiring problem with the gauges I'm willing to bet..
If you just did some electrical work in your car, and now you're having problems, look first at the electrical work you just did.
