I have a 1984 Saab. If the engines have problems in the newer ones then they have made a complete turn from the transmission problems that plagued the "80's. The engine in mine and ones I used for parts all ran, they were almost bullet proof. The Transmission just would not hold up, but that was before GM got involved and Saab turned the engine sideways to use GM transmissions.
