Re: Summer Tire Recommendations
KDW's (on M3): These were great tires. Very livable during regular driving, and wonderful at the limit. The rears lasted about 25k, but the fronts had at least 30% life left. They were grippy and quiet. They were great in the rain and decent in the cold. My only grip is that I couldn't tell when i would hit the limit. The threshold was very slim with these tires. I didn't know where the limit was until i hit it, and then im already loosing control of the car. (This could've been more of the car/suspension than tires).
Azenis (WRX). I've had both kinds. The grippy Sports and the less grippy ST115's. The Sports performed awesome. Very predictable at the limit. They weren't as good in the rain as I would've wanted a street tire, but as long as you don't go splashing around in puddles, you will be fin. They didn't last long at all, but like others of have said, the cheap price makes up for it. Here is the thing with these tires...they are NOISY. They almost drone at HWY speeds, and they rumble coming to a stop. This gets worse as the tires get more worn.
KUMHO SPT (M3). THey were perfect for me. Good life, good performance, good rain performance, and not noisy. The thing is, they didn't really excel in anything. They performed exactly as they were intended, with a budget and compromises in mind.
