Default Re: Acura NSX

Its all about profit. And i can justify this by saying that even a "showcase" car stands as an investment for profit.

The prius, in example, gives toyota the moniker as a green-conscious company. Despite short-term loss, Toyota gains profit in the long run by banking on the increased public image.

But what type of public image is Honda trying to convey with their NSX, especially in the early 90's? Tell me if im wrong here guys, but this is how I saw it. "The NSX, a supercar that even your grandmother can drive." This becomes a slap in the face of Porsche, Ferrari and the like. Sounds good right? Except they forgot to mention that it performs less than a supercar, priced just as much as a supercar, and its still a Honda. Albiet it came as a Acura to the U.S.

And thats another disparing point that i forgot to mention. Honda decided to bring its pinicle sports car...as a Acura. What does that say about Honda's marketing for the NSX in the U.S? I think it says one thing...they were skeptical as to how the U.S public was going to greet Honda's new supercar. They were trying to justify its higher price by giving it a luxury lable because they knew that the car wouldn't sell itself. That makes the NSX different from the GT-R. Nissan knows that their car will sell itself as a Nissan and not an Infiniti.
