I LOVE when people say that. Like they can see the engine internals and what not. Granted the car is probably stock as fuck, but you don't know what he has done to it mainly because you can't see anything of importance from the outside.
You're right, he could've had a lot of work done to the motor.. Although it did'nt sound very loud when he went flying by me.. Even though his car had exhaust.. I see what you're saying, though...
