DEVELOPING: Elizabeth City man killed in Chesapeake motorcycle crash

CHESAPEAKE-A man was killed in a motorcyle accident Friday evening in Chesapeake.

It happened just after 6, in the 1600 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, in the Fentress section.

Officer Justin Matthews of the Chesapeake Police Department tells 13News that a 51-year-old Elizabeth City man riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle ran off the road, and hit a utility pole.

Crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene, and his identity is being held until police notify his family.

The accident happened just miles from another fatal crash that happened Friday morning. That crash, in the 4000 block of Elbow Road in Virginia Beach, killed 21-year-old Sarah Wirth. The two crash scenes happened less than seven miles from each other.
