Also, a quick check is to check voltage between the ground term on the battery and the frame. You should have basically zero volts difference. If you have anything more that that, you have a problem. I had a similar issue with my WRX a few years ago, and I read about 3 volts from battery to frame. That means there is a major restriction to current flowing through the ground to the battery, and the engine won't start.
