Good luck, most shops charge $80 or so dollars for a diagnostic. But, in the end atleast you will know what's wrong with it and not throwing parts at it like most of the responses you'd get from here.
Over the last couple of years we have built a relationship with this mechanics shop, mainly due to shitty american cars(old chevy truck and an intrepid) and I might be able to get that diagnostic for cheap

The other day it had a puff of smoke too but I think it was just oil, I hope haha
