Re: MB S55 mod path
Get a pulley, drop the resonators, and tune the ECU. The engine itself can take a TON of power and abuse.
There is a major problem with these cars and it comes in the form of cooling. When you mod the engine you will create more heat.
1. The intercooling system is inefficient..... No one really has a solution because parts and moding these cars are $$$$$
2. There is a pesky intercooler pump on these cars which IMO is the achelies heal to these cars. When the pump goes out, and it will, the S/C will either disengage or not engage at all. In really hot conditions the pump can not cool enough and for safety reasons the S/C clutch stops working. Some MB drivers have already gone through a couple of these with less than 50K miles. You can get a new MB Bosch pump for $$$ or buy a Johnson pump the Ford Lightning uses which is nearly the same.
If you are looking to mod I would spend little more and by a SL600 or CL600. These have twin turbo V12 that are VERY underrated. A nice ECU tune will have you beating SL 65's and CL 65's.
As for the Clubs let me know what you found. I still have yet to see a Cl55, S55, or another E55 Kompressor
