I am Dan 1 of the owners of Awful Arthur's in VB. I am also an Auto Enthusiasts, & the Facto President of the Local RX-8 Club.
I don't know that this really matters to anyone, But i'd like to clear some facts.
I am naming 2 players in the game and some facts about a chain of events that has lead me here to this very post.
Elite :: Sumo
I have know the crew from Elite for several years and they have been hanging & meeting at my joint for a long time. We have discussed an Import Night and things of the like. As recently as early last week Josh of Elite was setting up plans for meets and other events to held at Awful's. 2 days later Sumo (and a former Elite crew member) rolled in asking for sponsorship for a drift event. That Sat. Sumo Crew came to Awful's to Rep. & a couple Elite members were up there too (like they normally are). I meet Nick of Sumo, and we discussed the event, after party and other Sat night meet nights.
Now, I had no Idea that there was tension between the 2 crews and this is where I get pulled. I will not take sides & want to open this up for peaceful, fun meetings. Without going into the laundry of all of this, it goes like this from here on out.
Awful's is open to all Car Enthusiasts every Saturday from here on out. As I was approached by Elite 1st (and have a long term relationship with them), and Sumo wanted to bring something to the table also... I see both of them as EQUAL billets on opening-up this new safe, fun and harassment free hang out. Both crews have something to offer in my opinion. I do not care for the politics of all this and I have never had an issue like this with my 8 Club or the local Mazda Rotary Club or the Bike clubs that meet up here sometimes on Fridays. Awful's is open to all. Each individual crew can take credit for bringing their numbers if it is a bigger cock contest, but really... is it not about the cars?
I am just getting the vibe that these meets are going to turn into a crew pissing contest and I am not about that. Awful's is MY HOME... and all crew are welcome in MY House! Cool enough? Fair Enough?
Sorry about this post but I want everyone to have a good time and don't want to be caught up in a manipulation battle that only will hurt the scene in the long run.
