Henrico police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police say a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on Pouncey Tract Road in Henrico when it passed an officer.
Due to the high rate of speed that the vehicle was traveling, the officer did not have time to turn around and pursue the vehicle. However, once the officer located the vehicle it had struck a pole and was engulfed in flames.
Due to the fire, the vehicle and driver cannot be identified at this time. Stay with 8News for updates.

Henrico County Police were called to the 5000 block of Pouncey Tract Road (near Shady Grove Road) just after 4:30 AM this morning after a car slammed into two power poles. Nearly 4,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers were left in the dark from the nearby Bentley subdivision to Wyndham after the wreck, and Pouncey Tract Road was closed to all traffic until 10:30 AM while the accident was investigated.
As can be seen in the photo, the car appeared to be wrapped around the power pole and the white transformer box caught fire inside the dashboard of the car. The vehicle’s body was completely torched and the driver was burned beyond recognition, according to authorities. One of the power poles was still smoking when we arrived on scene around 8:30 AM.
Police say an officer saw the car speeding down Pouncey Tract and pulled out to follow the car, but by the time the officer caught up to the driver, the car had hit two electrical poles and was fully engulfed in flames. The officer was not able to pull the driver from the vehicle. There is no official word yet from authorities on the identity of the driver.
Pouncey Tract Road was closed from Shady Grove Road to the entrance to the Bentley subdivision for most of the morning. Shady Grove Road was also closed at the Turnberry subdivision to all traffic headed in the direction of Pouncey Tract. We will follow up with more details as they become available.

FYI, I am not making a claim on his speed, I am merely quoting what the police officers on the scene reported.

Making a claim would be saying he was under the influence. In none of the stories this has been said. If the officers said he was under the influence, you could go ahead and say that. Still, none of it is in good taste when his friends are on this thread trying to mourn the loss of a loved one.

Anyow, I did not know this person or any of his friends for that matter.
please read before you post, can only hope you see this post.
