Weight of the car and area under the torque curve in the portions of the rpm band that you are in after the shift until you shift to the next gear multiplied by the gear ratio of each gear you are in multiplied by the final drive ratio is what defines how well the car accelerates, considering the traction you have available. Remember, it's always better to make torque at higher rpms so that you can take advantage of gearing.
If you launch at 6000rpm and shift at 8000, you will never be in a portion of the rpm band in which the V6 powerband would be superior. On my previous setup, I was hitting consistent 1.6 60 foot times. You don't need the V6 for a good launch.
Low end torque DOES make the car easier to drive around the road course, and is especially helpful to the novice road course driver. It also makes driving up mountain roads that much more fun for ANY driver!
