If you feel that's expensive, then go to a normal exhaust shop, they will be able to bend a normal exhaust that will not be mandrel. The mandrel will definitely give you more power gains.
to the guy up top --- sorry dude, but your info is a bit retarded... just cause an exhaust is mandrel bent, doesn't give you more HP. it SMOOTHS the TURBULENCE in the exhaust, so that it can flow easier/smoother, but doesn't give you more HP just cause of the bend. Don't sit there and tell people that just cause they're not getting a mandrel bend exhaust, that they won't have as much horse power. Thats the biggest crock of shit i've EVER heard from anyone, and its just like a businessman to try and sell you what he's got over anyone else. Personally i wouldn't buy from you just because well:
1: piping, flanges, hangers, etc., shouldn't cost $250. Maybe $150 tops - keep in mind the cr-x is half the length of a normal vehicle (i.e. 2000 civic).
2: What kind of mufflers do you ACTUALLY offer? Are they TRUE brand name products such as MagnaFlow? Borla? FlowMasters? or are they some no-named bullshit that you can lift with your pinky??
3: You refer to a mandrel, as if its like a "Port & Polish" for your exhaust. Which is ENTIRELY not true. All a MANDREL is, is a machine that BENDS METAL. NOTHING MORE. Stop trying to "Con" this guy into buying your exhaust system, just cause you have a mandrel to bend the pipes.
THE BEST WAY to gain HP from a new exhaust system, is a straight shot from the headers back. no bends, no nothing, just a straight pipe all the way back, but in doing this, u run the risk of "damaging" the exhaust pipe underneath, as there is no shield, or "cover" to protect it.
anyways - if you can get the chance, goto "Hi-Flo Custom Exhaust" in manassas, on Jerry's circle.
The guy who owns (and a personal friend of mine), his name is Scott.
First and foremost - you DONT need a 2.5" exhaust. Not a d-series WITHOUT headers...
If you HAVE headers, get a 2.25", not 2.5". You're going to NEED backpressure in order to actually feel some kind of power gains.
Too big of a pipe to push that exhaust through? and you're actually going to lose power than gain any.
All exhausts, regardless if its $50 from ebay, or $500 custom done, they won't give you much power gains. More over between 1hp - 5hp. In order to actually FULLY utilize a free-flow exhaust system, you're going to need the rest of the intake/exhaust system.
If you really wanna feel some power gains, get a cold-air intake from ebay (they work PERFECTLY fine for a fraction of the cost), a decent set of headers, & a full custom mandrel bent exhaust. If you're looking for more throttle response, get a short-ram intake kit. Weapon-R sells very good kits for short-ram setups, but they're not cheap, and not cheap for a reason.
As for a muffler choice, MagnaFlow is a really good decision when choosing a free-flow exhaust system. MagnaFlow is very quiet @ low RPMS (but still noticeable, but its not LOUD & raspy like a fart can/Apexi N1 does) but @ WOT - they'll make that exhaust sing very beautifully. check out
www.magnaflow.com to hear some exhaust clips of some newer hondas with their mufflers on.
Hi-Flo's rates will be similar to that guy above me, generally same materials as well.
Also - scott generally takes about 30 min or less to make your exhaust.
PM me if you'd like the contact # for his shop - or you can whitepages.com it
