Default Gymkhana Test Trial at VMP 12/7/08

Ok, this is a test day gymkhana event. There will be two courses set up, however, only one course will be equipped with timing equipment. The 2 courses will be setup as mirror images of each other. If all goes well and people enjoy it, we'll purchase a second set of timing equipment and then be able to run a full series next year with timing equipment on both courses at the same time for the maximum amount of scored runs.

You are welcome to arrive to the event at anytime after 8AM, there is an auto-x the first half of the day that you can also register for (see below - if spots are still available). Our registration will not start until ~2PM.

SCHEDULE:
8:00AM - Venue Opens
10:00AM - Auto-x Registration
10:45AM - Auto-x Course Walk
11:15AM - Auto-x Drivers Meeting
12:00PM - Auto-x 1st Heat On Track
1:45PM - Auto-x 2nd Heat On Track
2:00PM - Gymkhana Registration
2:30PM - Technical Inspections

GYMKHANA INFO:
For those not aware of what Gymkhana is, it's basically an auto-x that not only tracks your lap time, but also your ability to memorize a more complicated course. Being such, there are a lot fewer cones and more overlap and reuse of the few cones that are laid out.

This event is set up more as a trial and error test run. We will be critiquing our event and adjusting it in order to plan accordingly for a 2009 season all-around the state and then some series. At the same time, this event will give you the opportunity to try something different as well as the opportunity to give us feedback. You will not have to shag cones at this event, you simply show up and drive. We will have two groups and alternate them between the courses evenly throughout the allotted time.

The amount of runs you receive will be directly related to how fast and on track each driver in your group can remain. For instance, with a 45 second course, giving a 15 second buffer to remove the car on track and stage the next car, you figure ~1 minute per lap. 1 minute lap x 90 minutes track time x 2 courses = 180 laps / 20 cars = 9 laps each. If this event goes well, the amount of track time and course design will reflect that and more of both will follow next season.

Scoring for this event will not be handled as it would be next season (i.e. driveline, mods, etc...). Since this is a trial and error test day, we will simply be awarding you your lap times, with the usual penalties for cones and failure to follow the course added on.

The main rules are:
If you run over the timer cables they are $300 each, and if you destroy the timer boxes, they are $200 each. You shouldn't hit them unless you are way off line and out of control.
There is to be NO drifting at this event, and we really can't leave much, if any rubber on the pavement if we wish to get our foot back in the door at this great venue. If you want to drift, go to another event, or come and drive at this event, help make us show we can adhere to their rules, and maybe we can then drift at a later date.

The fastest time of the day will win a free case of NOS Energy Drinks (MSRP = $60)
