No the car in the pic is a 99 frc (fixed roof coupe) the predacessor to the Z. Chev designed the FRC and it didn't sell well, so... they designed the Z06 w/ better suspension and more horsepower etc. to be a sweet track car and it started to sell.

Actually vette people don't like it when people call the Z06 a Z, becase it refers to the Nissans in their heads too, so you aren't out of line.
