Default 16V battery = problems

Ok well I made the mistake of getting the most expensive battery I could find for the sake of not needing a battery for awhile.....A Lightweight 16V.

Anyways it was for my Mustang, so after I got the custom posts worked out, she was ready to go.

I'll give some info about the car real quick, its an 83 LX, original V6 car, carbed 302 now.

I have an electric fuel pump with a switch in the car, which is powered from an external distribution block coming from the battery.

Also had just put a new alternator on cause I needed one, anyways on to the problems.

Well with the 16v battery in, my aftermarket voltmeter was reading about 16-17(battery was at 16.63V when I picked it up).

When I started it, it started right up, I mean, so fast and easy you'd think it was a brand new motor or something. Lettin her warm up, giving a little gas, volts were peakin on my guage(Only goes to 18).

Now at this point I knew that prob wasn't good, but was determined to drive as is til something broke.

Anyways skip some BS, I'm out for a drive the next night, after having shut the car off somewhere else even, car won't start. Just buzzing and clicking.

Checked the volts, car still plenty of juice. We jumped the solenoid and still wasn't turnin over, so I replaced the solenoid.

Next mornin tryin to get my car home, I noticed the fuel filter under the hood isn't filling, I slide under the back and see my fuel pump pissin everywhere.

I guess a seal went from the extra juice cause she was screamin!

Sooooo, I have a new fuel pump and solenoid, and my battery wont hold a charge. I'm pretty sure theres not a feasible way for me to have killed the battery, so I'm assuming something is stuck and draining my battery. 14V @ night, 0 by morning

Also I think I may still have the buzzing issue when I go to start it, only tried to turn it one time at low volts so not sure.

Anyone got any ideas or maybe had this kind of issue before?

I would also trade this battery for a regular top post of decent quality, the battery I have retails for a good bit, but obv I can't use it appropriately.
