Hi-point is actually a pretty decent gun nowaday.. ugly as fuck, but it goes bang, & are rather accurate & reliable for those who are limp-wristers. $300 is very step.. but around $160-200 would be better for a used hi-point. Cant really compared to online prices either considering you have to deal through an FFL to get the gun. these guns new normally sell for around 200-250 around pawn shops. Warrenty is outstanding with hi-point btw.
