Cosworth is now mostly funded by Ford and most of their engines have been Ford derivitves, but not all. The Cosworth Vega engine took a basic Vega shortblock, destroked it to 2.0 liter I think and put a 2 cam 16 valve head, FI, etc on the thing back in the days when all of that stuff was very rare. In initial development they had streetable versions that supposedly were 250 or more HP, but by time it actually made it to the street it was about 110 hp. But you have to remember it was the era of stupid regulations, emissions, to where a V8 Mustang put out about 120 hp.
