I had the opposite experience when I was younger. I lied, took the breathalizer, then the cop was super pissed because I lied. If I feel like i'm gonna get popped, I just tell the truth to soften the blow.

I don't see how he could keep you from driving home. That is why you never admit to drinking anything, even just one, they will harrass you to no end. You are not required to take any those test, not even the breathalizer. That is unless they have arrested you. If you are arrested and refuse then they can suspend your liscense and all kinds of other stuff.

In VA, if you refuse the breathalizer, you are arrested for DUI then your BAC is tested at the station.
