Well, if a "sports car" is a car that comes off the assembly line ready to be driven hard each and every day, why is it no one has even mentioned the Koenigsegg? I mean, a car that lets YOU adjust the suspension to your own liking and can ball out better than any other car, then that would be my ideal choice for distinguishing a sports car from anything else.
And why is it that a grocery-getter cant be considered a sports car, if its been totally reworked to be one. Be real with yourself, some of the stuff people are doing to their cars are far better than anything stock on a new sports car (some cases, not all). I DL'ed that 2.0 liter challenge (track race with an s2000, accord SIR, EK9 with a kick ass c5 (i believe) in it), and the ek9 spanked the s2000. So why should a sports car have to be RWD? Though i must say id rather own a RWD than a FWD car, but id also rather have a AWD car as opposed to RWD. Since AWD cars tend to be the 4 cy's that are turbo, would you say they arent sports cars? Because i consider rally racing one of the greatest sports around, its something that is really hard to do, and requires all the best things a car can offer (as far as performance).
And do i think the imports are die'in off, No. Though most people dont like the G35, to me, its a N/A skyline (since it has the same traction system as the R34 and is almost up to its power band. And if you take notice, most of the import companies are putting a lot of power into their SUV's and trucks. That Nissan Titan is a beast!!! So i think its only a matter of time b4 they start releasing some crazy sh*t out on the market.
Thats my long .02
